On the final day of our trip, Pastor Timothy delivered a powerful message on "getting what God wants for us instead of what we want from God". It was a wonderful ending to a wonderful week in Nicaragua. The people were so grateful for our ministry there and eager for us to return with other teams in the spring.  I remember one church member explaining to me why they are such passionate and loving people. He said that Nicaraguan believers are very aware of their need for God. They are reminded of their spiritual need everyday by their physical needs. Many of us could learn from them what it means to be poor in spirit. We are so grateful for that reminder as we return to the U.S.

Today was a day full of ministry. We woke up early and headed to a local television station where Pastor Timothy was interviewed, sharing a little about Relationships for Christ Ministries and promoting the night's church service.

When we take teams on Mission Possible trips, there will be a day to allow everyone to relax and enjoy the sights and culture. As the schedule would dictate, we ended up taking our free day and the beginning of the Nicaragua trip. What a day! Especially if you have never seen a volcano. We visited the historical but active Masaya volcano near Managua.

I've posted several photos below, however nothing can capture the experience of being there first hand. The rich earth-tone colors were beautiful and you could feel (and smell) the steam coming from the huge crater. While visiting several markets, we also got a breath taking view of a lake that itself used to be the mouth of a volcano.

While at Masaya, we ran into a family who were from Georgia, but had a relative pass away in Nicaragua. I told them that we would be lifting them up in prayer, and when we ran into them again at another location, I felt the urge even more. Please join us in praying for Leela, Orlando and Antonio.

There seems to be so many “anti” fruits of the Spirit in our lives and churches these days.  Perhaps that is because it has been too long since we have allowed the Holy Spirit to burn in us…I dare say rage in us…to the point it consumes us completely.
